Tsavo West safari from Mombasa
Tsavo West sits further along the highway than Tsavo East. Allow about 4 to 5 hours toward Mtito Andei before you are in the park. Mzima Springs is the stop most parties want. Book it as an overnight.
Checked 19 October 2026. The 4 to 5 hour figure is the road toward Mtito Andei, not a promise about animal sightings.
Why it is not a quick add-on
The photograph at the top is Mombasa, the city the trip starts from. Tsavo West is a full journey. Doing it as a day from Mombasa means most of the date is tarmac. Mzima Springs, the lava-flow country, and a real game drive need the night. Tsavo East can be the first park and Tsavo West the second, which is the usual order when both are requested.
Continuing to Amboseli from this side is how a longer safari is built. It is still about 7 to 8 hours from Mombasa all the way to Amboseli, so it is not slipped in after a city tour. Kenya Wildlife Service fees are extra unless the reply names them.
