Diani beach from Mombasa

Diani is the long south-coast beach after the Likoni ferry. Plan about 40 km and around 50 minutes when the ferry is moving. A ferry queue adds time. The transfer is private and quoted on WhatsApp.

Checked 19 October 2026. Distance and time are planning figures. The ferry, not the map, decides the morning.

The crossing

The photograph at the top is Mombasa, the city the trip starts from. Diani itself is across the channel. The vehicle uses the Likoni ferry, then the south-coast road. Swimwear stays for the beach. This is not an Old Town walk and it does not include a Fort Jesus ticket.

A day return is possible. An overnight is the better plan if you want the reef and a slow morning. Wasini Island and the Kisite-Mpunguti boat are south-coast days of their own, usually from Shimoni, and they are quoted separately. Shimba Hills sits inland from this coast and can be added as a safari day.

Stay

Villas, hotels, resorts, and furnished apartments in Diani are arranged on the accommodation pages. Send the dates before asking for a same-day hotel and a beach transfer in one breath. The quote will separate the vehicle from the room.
