Beach resorts
A resort is a beach property with grounds and a restaurant, larger than a single villa and more self-contained than a city hotel. North-coast and south-coast resorts are both arranged. The meal plan is whatever the quote names.
Checked 19 October 2026. Resort facilities differ. The quote is the list that applies, not a general promise of a spa or a reef boat.
North coast or south coast
The photograph at the top is Mombasa, the city the trip starts from. Nyali and Bamburi resorts keep you near the city tour and Haller Park. Diani, Watamu, and Malindi resorts are for a beach stay, with the transfer quoted as well. A resort day-pass, if you only want lunch and a few hours, has to be requested in those words. A room booking is not a day-pass.
If the resort has a reef boat or a park trip, that activity is still a separate line from safaris or the marine pages. We do not fold it into "resort" and hope the desk agrees.
Questions
What is the difference between a resort and a villa?
A resort has shared grounds and a restaurant. A villa is a private house for your party.
Do resorts include all meals?
Only if the quote says half board or full board. Bed and breakfast means breakfast.
Which coast should we choose?
Stay north if the city tour matters. Stay in Diani, Watamu, or Malindi if the beach is the point.
