Nyali
Nyali is the north-coast suburb across the Nyali Bridge from Mombasa island. Hotels here are a standard pickup. The beach and reef flat are the point of a north-coast day, not a substitute for Fort Jesus.
How Nyali is used
Stay in Nyali and the drive to Haller Park in Bamburi is shorter than the drive from the far side of the island. The drive to Fort Jesus crosses the bridge and then crosses town. Both are normal. A dedicated beach day is the Nyali and north coast tour. Swimwear is fine on the sand and wrong in Old Town, so a mixed day needs a cover-up.
