Shimba Hills safari from Mombasa
Shimba Hills is the forest reserve near Kwale, on the south coast side of the Likoni ferry. It is the safari that can still be a day from Mombasa or from Diani. Elephants live in the forest. This is not Tsavo.
Checked 19 October 2026. The ferry sits on this route. A long Likoni queue moves the gate time.
A south-coast park day
The photograph at the top is Mombasa, the city the trip starts from. The vehicle crosses at Likoni and climbs inland toward Kwale. Shimba Hills National Reserve is forest and grassland, with elephants, not the red plains of Tsavo East. It pairs more naturally with Diani than with Old Town. A city-tour morning plus Shimba Hills is only sold when the chat cuts the island visit down and still clears the ferry.
The reserve fee is a Kenya Wildlife Service charge. It is listed in the quote only when the reply says so. Sheldrick Falls is a walk some parties add. Ask if you want it, because it changes the clock.
