Mama Ngina Waterfront
Mama Ngina Waterfront is the public promenade on the ocean side of Mombasa island. The path runs above the coral shelf under casuarina trees. It is a short stop on a city tour when Fort Jesus and Old Town have not used the whole morning.
Where it fits
The waterfront is on the island, so it belongs with a half day rather than with a Bamburi afternoon. It is not a substitute for Fort Jesus. There is no museum ticket for walking the promenade. Heat and glare are the limits, which is why it works better before midday. If the fort visit ran long, skip it instead of pushing Haller Park into the dark. Timing rules are on tour duration.
